Mozilla Introduces Prism Beta
Mozilla prism is a program that can take your everyday web applications straight to the desktop. Prism is already in use by Yahoo! for their Zimbra suite and is now open to end users to use for their favorite web applications.
When I first used Prism, I first thought it was pointless since it seemed like a simple web browser that opens a URL shortcut on your desktop. But Mozilla does make a great point on the Prism website:
“Unstable applications can slow down or crash your entire browser.”
How many times have we all been writing a paper, either for work or school, using Google Docs or Zoho Writer and listening to Pandora at the same time when Flash decides to stop working? This usually requires a restart of Firefox and the retyping of several lines. With Prism, it allows all those apps to work separately from the browser thus taking a few weights off your browser’s back. If Flash decides to take a dump, only Prism will be effected. Unfortunately for you, you will have no excuse to stop working. I hope you enjoy my little demo below (it was on an older slow computer)!
Available on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Mozilla Prism can be downloaded at prism.mozilla.com
The Mozilla Prism logo is © Mozilla, Inc. and is being used for news reporting under fair use.

Associated Press Typo? WTF!?

I went onto Google News this morning to see a typo by the Associated Press. Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t it supposed to be 70,000 years ago? not 70,00? what also shocked me is the headline to the right about humans living with separate “bands” for 100,000 years is also a typo. “bands” is supposed to be hands. What is weird is this is by the Agence France-Presse (AFP). Since I was reading it on Google News, is it possible it was Google’s fault? either way, I’m laughing my ass of right now, you’d think they would be all correct and everything, well, this has been up for two days now and they haven’t even changed the darn thing!

Heads Up for 8.04 “Hardy”
Over the past 24 hours we have installed Ubuntu 8.04 “Hardy Heron” on all four of our computers. A warning to all you laptop users, The Restricted Drivers Manager (Now called “Hardware Drivers”) is really messed up. If your using a laptop and have wireless (Especially Broadcom) you may have some trouble successfully activating wireless and video card drivers. I have no clue why it got screwed up but I bet it will get ironed out within the next month or two (or perhaps weeks). Stay tuned and I’ll update you on how the new version is!

University of Maine Law Students Take RIAA to Court
University of Maine Law students are going after the RIAA because of their unlawful spying on people who steal music. The University of Maine’s law students are also in the process of defending the 27 University of Maine students that were caught by RIAA this past year. There is also another case besides this one in which a lady is taking the RIAA to court over the same thing. If one of these cases wins, the RIAA’s suing spree will come to a drastic halt. I’m sure that most college students and other music-loving people will be cheering the University of Maine’s School of Law in the fight against the RIAA.

MouseMaze
MouseMaze is a strategy game in which you must move your cursor through the maze and through the obstacles without touching the walls. I couldn’t make it through level 14. Goodluck!
